SANTA POD RACEWAY, 19-21 APRIL 2019

Kevin Slyfield defeated Marck Harteveld on a foul to win the season’s opening race. Qualified first and second, the pair ran neck-and-neck through eliminations, with Harteveld earning a fractional performance edge courtesy of the weekend’s quickest elapsed time, 6.052sec, against Chris Isaacs in the first round. In the final, however, Slyfield induced his Dutch opponent to leave too soon, with Harteveld’s -.065sec red light handing instant victory to the Dorset racer.

Nick Davies clocked the event’s top speed, 242.37mph, in the first round, only for a parachute failure to put him off the end of the track. Damage to the turbocharged Firebird was repaired in time for the semi-final, where Slyfield beat him.
