Round 4 Race Report

ROUND 4:  SANTA POD RACEWAY, 3-4 AUGUST 2019

The third Marck Harteveld-Kevin Slyfield final of the season was decided prematurely when Slyfield’s supercharger belt broke on the burnout. Harteveld shook and swerved to a 10-second solo victory, leaving the watching Slyfield to rue his luck. Slyfield had dominated until that moment, clocking the event’s only 5sec elapsed times (three), qualifying on pole (5.972sec) and setting low ET at 5.967sec in the semi-final.

Nick Davies’s turbocharged entry set the event’s top speed, 246.73mph, the fastest yet achieved by a British Pro Mod. Also of note, a succession of career-best figures topped by 6.080sec propelled veteran Jean Dulamon to the brink of the 5-second zone, a signal accomplishment for an unblown nitrous car.
